tw: perceived productivity // apple just released 'neural-mute' and i am finally entering my silent era
tim cook finally understood that hearing the words "per my last email" is a hate crime against my nervous system.

i literally cannot even begin to describe the level of cortisol currently flooding my system just from the act of typing this. existing in this toxic economy is basically a full-time job that i never applied for and i am honestly just exhausted by the sheer audacity of the atmosphere today. like, why is the air so loud? why is the concept of "hard work" still being pushed on us without a trigger warning? it's actually violent.
but then tim cook happened.
apple just dropped 'neural-mute,' and i am shaking (in a healing way). for those of you who aren't chronically online or are currently in your bed rotting era, neural-mute is a biotech wearable that uses real-time ai to filter out auditory triggers before they reach your brain. basically, if someone says "synergy," "bandwidth," or "let's circle back to this," the device replaces the sound with soft lo-fi beats or the sound of a distant rainforest. it’s essentially a noise-canceling headphone for your actual soul.
i tried it during my last 'sync' meeting and i actually felt my heart rate drop below 110 bpm for the first time in three years. when my manager started talking about "deliverables," all i heard was a gentle rain shower on a tin roof. i just sat there, completely detached from physical reality, staring at a pixel on my screen and vibrating with peace. it’s the first time i’ve felt truly seen by a corporation.
honestly, though, even downloading the update felt like an act of extreme emotional labor. the process of clicking 'agree' on the terms and conditions is practically manual labor and i had to take a three-hour nap just to recover from the perceived effort of it all. we really need to discuss how the tech industry continues to gaslight us into thinking that software updates aren't basically an unpaid internship in cognitive endurance.
if you’re also struggling with the violence of existing in a capitalist hellscape, i highly recommend pairing your neural-mute with some sensory-friendly tools from my amazon storefront (get the weighted lap pad, it’s the only thing keeping me tethered to this dimension right now: [amazon.com/shop/zephyr-vibe-curator]).
i don't know how much longer i can sustain a physical form in this economy, but at least now i can do it while pretending that no one is asking me for things. i am officially entering my silent era. please don't email me, as that is literal violence and i am currently regulating.
