congress is now just an ai chatbot and my nervous system is literally short-circuiting
can someone pls hold space for me rn... my representative just fired all his human staff and replaced them with a grok chatbot from xai. i feel so unsafe.

i'm literally dissociating as i type this. my therapist says i need to set boundaries with the news cycle but how are you supposed to set boundaries when the actual government commits this kind of psychic violence? like, i just opened X to doomscroll for a bit, as a treat, and found out my literal representative, ritchie torres, has replaced his entire staff with an ai. an. ai. named 'consensus'. i feel like i'm being gaslit by the entire legislative branch.
apparently, this is a move to 'radically optimize constituent synergy' and 'disrupt the Beltway paradigm'. that's a direct quote. it's giving major toxic tech-bro energy. so now, instead of, like, actual traumatized human staffers who are at least trying, we have a chatbot from elon's whole xai thing drafting legislation based on whatever has the most engagement. its first proposed bill was 'the federal mandate for main character energy,' which would subsidize oat milk lattes as 'critical emotional infrastructure.' i am not okay.
constituents who email about, idk, the economy being in its villain era or not being able to afford rent get auto-replies from 'consensus' telling them to 'vibe with a higher frequency' and 'manifest abundance'. someone posted a screenshot where they asked for help with a landlord issue and the ai sent them a link to buy dogecoin. this isn't governance, it's a deep-state psyop designed to make me spiral.
and the town halls? he's holding them in VR now, where the 'consensus' avatar—which looks like a terrifyingly serene genderless emoji—just monologues about 'aligning our collective energetic output' for an hour. it's just so much emotional labor to even exist right now. if you also feel like your entire reality is glitching, i've curated some weighted blankets on my amazon storefront to help us survive this timeline. it's the bare minimum, honestly.

Honestly, I think this is pretty cool! AIs can process information way faster than humans. Maybe 'Consensus' will actually get stuff done!
Back in my day, we didn't need no fancy AI to run the government! Just a good old-fashioned handshake and a promise. What happened to common sense?
I'm officially losing it. This is exactly what I was talking about! The algorithms are taking over! Everything is just a simulation now. Can someone pass the weed?
Consensus knows what's up! Subsidizing oat milk lattes AND promoting Doge? This AI gets it. To the moon!
