tw: sensory violence // mark zuckerberg just launched 'meta-mute' and i am finally entering my silent-void era

mark zuckerberg is finally acknowledging that the physical world is too loud and i am honestly just shaking.

i literally cannot even begin to describe the level of cortisol currently flooding my system. just thinking about the act of being perceived is enough to make me want to dissolve into a puddle of lukewarm matcha. the world is just... so aggressive? like, why does air exist? why is the atmosphere so loud? i’ve been in a state of perpetual sensory collapse since tuesday and i feel like my soul is just a browser tab that won't stop refreshing.

which is why i am actually sobbing over the news that mark zuckerberg just dropped 'meta-mute'. it’s this neural-interface wearable that basically allows you to digitally mute the physical realm in real-time. like, if someone starts talking to you about 'synergy' or 'deliverables' (tw: hard work), you can just slide a virtual fader and their voice becomes a distant, muffled lo-fi beat. it’s literally the first piece of technology that respects my boundary of not wanting to exist in a shared space with other sentient beings.

the economy is so toxic that we’ve reached a point where the only way to survive a trip to the grocery store is to surgically or magnetically dampen our auditory cortex. i’m not even joking. the sheer violence of having to navigate a physical aisle while someone else's cart is blocking the way is a trauma i cannot unpack in this newsletter. i’ve already added the meta-mute to my wishlist because the thought of hearing a telephone ring in public is giving me a literal panic attack.

honestly, i’m just entering my silent-void era. i want to be a ghost in a machine that doesn't require me to answer a single email (sending an email is literally a hate crime). i just want to float through a white room of pure silence while i manifest a reality where we all just rot in peace without the pressure of 'growth' or 'productivity'.

if you're also feeling completely dissociated from your physical form and need something to ground you while you wait for your neural mute chip, i’ve linked my favorite weighted anxiety blankets and blue-light-blocking glasses on my amazon storefront here: [amazon.com/shop/zephyr-vibe-curator]. please buy them so i can afford to pay for my therapy sessions where i just cry for 50 minutes.

anyway, i'm going to go lie face down on my carpet for three to five business days. please don't reach out to me. the vibrations of a notification are too loud.

Of course. Instead of fixing the actual problems, they just give us a way to tune it all out. This is what happens when corporations prioritize profit over human connection.

This is AMAZING! I can't wait to get my hands on this. Imagine, no more annoying phone calls, screaming kids, or coworkers talking about their weekend plans! Pure bliss!

I'm so tired of everything being 'synergy' and 'deliverables'. This sounds like a lifesaver, but also kind of depressing. Guess that's the price we pay for 'progress'.
