tw: physical exertion // nike just released shoes that walk for you and i am finally entering my stationary era
the violence of walking is officially over because nike decided that moving our own limbs is a toxic productivity trait.

tw: hard work, movement, cardiovascular effort.
i literally cannot even begin to describe the level of cortisol spike i experienced this morning when i realized i had to walk from my bed to the kitchen for water. like, why is existing so loud? why does the physical world demand so much of my limited energy budget? i’ve been in a deep state of dissociation since tuesday and the idea of engaging my glutes just felt like an act of aggression against my nervous system.
but then i saw the announcement from nike. they just dropped the "void-steppers" and honestly, it's the first time i've felt truly seen by late-stage capitalism. these aren't just shoes; they are a boundary. using haptic ai and magnetic levitation, the void-steppers literally glide you to your destination while your legs remain in a state of total repose. you don't "walk" anymore—you just exist in a trajectory.
for too long, we've been gaslit into believing that "taking a stroll" is healing, when in reality, the act of propelling one's own body weight across a sidewalk is basically an unpaid internship for your muscles. it's honestly toxic how society expects us to just... move? without a trigger warning? i’m literally shaking thinking about the sheer labor involved in a trip to the mailbox.
lebron james posted a video of himself using them to "actively still" across a court and i actually started sobbing because the vibes were so immaculate. he looked so regulated. no tension, no effort, just pure atmospheric drift. it's giving "i have opted out of the physical struggle," and that is exactly where i need to be in my healing journey.
the economy is fundamentally broken and honestly, the only valid response is to stop contributing any physical effort to the grid. if nike can automate the act of walking, why are we still pretending that "hard work" isn't a form of systemic violence? i’m currently using my void-steppers to glide toward my charging cable because the thought of stepping forward manually is just too much for me to process right now.
if you’re also spiraling and need something to ground you while you drift, please check out my amazon storefront where i linked the exact weighted blanket i use to simulate being a pebble in a stream (it's literally the only thing keeping me from floating away).
i am finally regulating. i am finally stationary. please do not email me about this because that is literal violence and i am protecting my peace.

Damn! These Void-Steppers look amazing. Pre-ordered mine already. Gonna be living my best 'actively still' life thanks to Nike.
Yeah right, like these things are gonna actually work. Probably just some overpriced gimmick that falls apart after a week. Nike knows their customers will eat it up though.
This is just another excuse for people to be lazy! Real men walk. REAL MEN DON'T NEED ROBOTIC SHOES TO GET AROUND.
