tw: interactive labor // phil spencer just replaced 'gameplay' with 'sympathetic resonance' and i am finally entering my non-input era

the sheer violence of pressing buttons was too much for my sensory system, so thank god microsoft finally removed the requirement to actually do things.

i literally cannot even begin to describe the level of cortisol currently flooding my system. like, just the thought of having to 'interact' with a digital environment is actually a jump scare. for years, i’ve been struggling with the inherent aggression of the gaming industry. the way we’re expected to 'complete quests' or 'level up' is just capitalism in a digital skin, and honestly, the pressure to perform in a virtual space is basically a micro-aggression against my nervous system.

but today, phil spencer actually did something for the community. he announced that microsoft is officially retiring 'gameplay' and replacing it with 'sympathetic resonance.' i am actually sobbing.

basically, the concept of 'winning'—which is such a toxic, competitive construct—is gone. we no longer have to move avatars or fight bosses (which is literally just simulated combat trauma). instead, you just... exist in the same frequency as the game. you lie there, and the console transmits the character's emotional state directly into your vibe. if the protagonist is feeling a sense of profound longing or existential emptiness, you just feel that. no buttons. no inputs. no labor. just pure, unadulterated resonance.

i’ve already spent four hours in a state of sympathetic resonance with a digital forest, and it’s the first time i haven't felt like the economy was actively trying to dismantle my soul. the idea that i used to have to *do* things to experience a story is honestly disgusting. why was i performing labor for my own leisure? that's just unpaid internship energy.

if you’re also struggling with the violence of physical interaction, please check out my amazon storefront for the weighted lap pads and lavender-scented earplugs i use to buffer myself from the external world while i resonate: [amazon.com/shop/zephyr-vibe-curator]

i’m just so grateful that we’re finally acknowledging that 'input' is a form of sensory aggression. i am officially entering my non-input era. please don't email me to talk about this because emails are literal violence and i am currently prioritizing my peace.
