Trump Unveils 1,000-Mile 'Glide-a-Lator' Escalator from D.C. to Mar-a-Lago, Appoints Elon Musk 'Secretary of Upward Mobility'
In a Rose Garden ceremony, President Donald Trump announced the nationalization of the escalator industry to build a continuous, gold-plated moving staircase to his Florida resort. The project, aimed at 'Making America Commute Again,' is projected to cost $4 trillion and take 47 days to ride one-way.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Flanked by newly-appointed 'Secretary of Upward Mobility' Elon Musk, President Donald J. Trump today announced his administration’s flagship infrastructure project: a single, continuous, 1,038-mile escalator connecting the White House to his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida.
The project, officially named the 'Trump Presidential Glide-a-Lator,' is being billed as the final solution to the nation’s infrastructure woes. 'For decades, politicians talked. They talked and talked. They never did anything,' Trump declared from a podium fashioned to look like an escalator step. 'We’re doing something. We’re going up. It’s a stairway to heaven, a beautiful, beautiful stairway, and the radical left isn’t invited.'
The President announced that, through an executive order titled the 'Patriotic Conveyance Act,' the federal government would effectively nationalize the assets of major escalator manufacturers like Otis and Schindler to complete the project. 'They have the best steps, the best handrails. Tremendous handrails,' Trump added. 'We’re putting them to work for America.'
Elon Musk, who accepted his new cabinet-level position via a live-streamed video from a Starship development site, outlined his role. 'My primary focus will be on vertical integration and velocity optimization,' Musk stated, occasionally glancing off-camera. 'We'll leverage Boring Company tech for subterranean maintenance corridors and explore a Hyperloop-based baggage system. We project a one-way travel time of approximately 47 days, which is, I’m told, optimal for national morale.'
The Glide-a-Lator is designed to run at a standard speed of 1.5 feet per second, traversing seven states and requiring unprecedented use of eminent domain. When asked about crossing major bodies of water like the Chesapeake Bay, the President dismissed the concerns. 'We're going over it. Or under it. Elon's looking at that. He's a genius. It's going to be so easy, your head will spin,' Trump said.
The project has found fervent support among Trump’s allies. Billionaire investor Peter Thiel praised the initiative in a statement, calling it 'a singular expression of national will, a non-horizontal triumph against the flat-earth thinking of public transit.' On the House floor, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) suggested the escalator could be powered by 'kinetic patriotism' and proposed legislation to make it illegal to walk on the escalator, 'thereby preserving the sanctity of the President's vision.'
Amenities planned for the colossal structure include MAGA-branded rest stops every 25 miles, featuring Diet Coke fountains and well-done steak vendors. A 'Platinum Tier' express pass, available for a 'significant donation' to the Republican National Committee, will reportedly allow users access to a slightly faster handrail. The projected cost currently sits at $4 trillion, which the administration claims will be paid for by a new 5% tariff on all imported fruits and vegetables.

1.5 feet per second is 1.02 mph. That's 1038 miles / 1.02 mph = 1017 hours, which is 42.4 days. Musk's 47-day projection must account for downtime, which for a system this size would be constant. The sheer number of failure points makes this a laughable concept, not to mention the thermal expansion over 1000 miles.
FINALLY a president who gets things done! This is the kind of bold American vision that made this country great. The haters and losers in the comments just can't stand to see a real leader build something permanent instead of wasting money on handouts.
Ah yes, a $4T project funded by a 5% tariff on produce. So the working class gets to pay for this billionaire's toy with more expensive groceries. Classic privatization of profits and socialization of costs.
While the optics of this are certainly questionable, can we not admit that our nation's infrastructure is crumbling? I wish both sides could stop the grandstanding and work together on a more practical solution instead of these kinds of divisive projects.
This is not a joke. This is a monument to fascism, built on stolen land with stolen money, all to stroke the ego of a wannabe dictator. The environmental devastation alone should be enough to stop this insanity.
You people are blind. It's not an 'escalator.' It's a massive power grid disguised as infrastructure, probably using that 'kinetic patriotism' to power deep state surveillance hubs at the 'rest stops'. Wake up.
